There are few things more amazing than the miracle of giving life. It’s one of the truly special gifts that we as humans have. The ability to create, nurture, inspire and mould a life that we hope will eventually be better than ourselves.

Being a parent is one of the most important jobs that one can ever have in their lifetime. It takes time, commitment and maturity. So having a child later in one’s life may have a great benefit in the mental development of a youth.

But 54 is simply too old, isn’t it?

I didn’t recognize the name at first glance, but after looking Brigitte Nielsen up on Wikipedia I instantly realized that she was the wife of Ivan Drago in Rocky IV. And although it has nothing to do with her ability to raise a child, it is a cool side note.

It’s quite clear that Brigitte Nielsen has taken great care of herself, as she simply does not look like a woman who is in the later stages of her life. But with that being said when her newborn is ten-years old, Nielsen will be 64.

The actress has had four-children previously from other marriages, so parenting is nothing new to Nielsen. And I’m sure the child will have everything it ever needs and that Nielsen will be a fantastic mother to her newborn daughter.

But I also have to imagine that it’s going to be awkward at times for a child having a parent who is the same age as most of their friends grand-parents. Or having a parent whom you can’t wrestle with because you’ll be too afraid of breaking their hip.

Maybe I’m being an ageist, but I find it both amusing and weird.
