Racing is obviously a big part of my life.  I race as a driver in 2 go kart classes, I race as spotter for Alex Tagliani in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series, I host the CanTorque Race Report with Jason Gregor and Jason Strudwick on TSN1260 in Edmonton, I’m the Western Canadian distributor for CRG Karts and I’m a contributor here on Crier Media which, to date, has focused entirely on racing.

My involvement in racing has taken me from my small hometown of Stony Plain, AB to the Indy 500….multiple times. It didn’t happen overnight and it certainly wasn’t easy but racing is a magical thing when things line up and can take you virtually anywhere that you want to go.

If you don’t know me you’d likely assume that I’ve been in racing my whole life but nothing could be farther from the truth.

I didn’t put my hands on a racing wheel for the first time until I was 34. Always wanted to, just never really had any idea of how to get started, who to talk to, etc.  I didn’t really think that it was possible for me to become a driver.

The day I got to do my first laps in a racing kart is something that I’ll never forget. Going in I was confident that I’d be able to get up to speed quickly, I mean, I’ve always been fast at the indoor kart track after all….yeah, it’s actually way harder than it looks.

But as the great Tony Soprano once said: “don’t go through a fuckin’ preamble, just tell me what’s on your mind”.

It’s not to late to get into racing and it’s likely not as expensive as you think.

Fact of the matter is: if you’re interested in getting involved in racing there’s a type of racing for you! Maybe you don’t have driving aspirations but want to be at the track; there are countless race teams that will love to have you help them out from karters to professional teams.
