Assorted Goods Episode 46: Bright Minds With Nicole Tetreault

Jun 7, 2021

ASSORTED GOODS EP 46 is here.

There’s a lot to know about the human brain, but there’s so much more that we don’t understand yet. For example, what do we know about the inner-workings of gifted and individuals who can be classified as twice-exceptional (or 2E)?

My guest for this episode of Assorted Goods is Dr. Nicole Tetreault, as we discuss her book ‘Insight Into A Bright Mind’, as well as an assortment of topics including; anxiety, imposter syndrome, meditation, why we focus on the negative over the positive, and of course, how we can learn to work with and understand people with unique patterns of thought.

We had the chance to get into the details of all these areas, including a discussion about our re-adaptation to life after covid, how to learn to take a compliment and focus less on the angry people who might drop an insult our way every now and then. Dr. Tetreault also shares her wisdom on how to practice meditative techniques, even if you’re not into meditation all that much.

But the most interesting ideas Dr. Tetreault has, have to do with the uniqueness of the human brain, especially in young people. How we all develop at different speeds and with different capabilities, and how our education systems and society don’t leave much wiggle room for these variable minds to flourish. If you’re a parent, this book is one that you must consider reading, and if you are allergic to children, that’s okay, I still learned a lot about my own upbringing and ways of thinking.

A jam-packed episode and a great conversation with someone much more qualified than your regular host. Enjoy!
