Barrie Police Officer Jason Stamp Has Been “Reassigned To Alternative Duties Pending The Outcome Of An Investigation”

Feb 8, 2021

What a crazy weekend for Barrie Police Officer Jason Stamp.

Some people waltz into their weekend by mailing it in. Officer Jason Stamp is not one of those guys.

While most cops were drinking coffee in a grocery store parking lot, Officer Stamp was beating the face-off of this 20-year-old skateboarder for having a ‘bad attitude’ in a video that’s since gone viral.

Source: The young man who was arrested in downtown Barrie on Thursday during a violent altercation with police is speaking out about what happened.

“I’m not proud of how I handled myself,” Skyler Kent, 20, told BarrieToday on Friday. “I definitely wasn’t in the wrong, but I could’ve been calmer.

“I’m alright now with everyone’s support and being home,” he added.

On the advice of his lawyer, Kent said he would not comment further.

Barrie today also reached out to Kent’s lawyer, but the message was not returned.

Kent has been charged with causing a disturbance and assault with attempt to resist arrest. He was released on a promise to appear in court and on an undertaking.

The incident occurred Thursday around 3 p.m. along Dunlop Street East in downtown Barrie, near Owen Street and in front of Meridian Place. Videos of the arrest quickly began circulating on social media.

At one point in one of the videos, the officer flips the young man over and strikes him in the back of the head.

Another video shows the officer on top of the man with a taser to his shoulder. The officer asks, “Do you want this?” followed by “Put your hands behind your back right now or I’m lighting you up.”

‘Or I’m lighting you up!!’  What a clown.  I think he thinks he’s in a fucking movie.

*Thanks to all of you and some brave folks with cell phones, Barrie Chief of Police Kimberly Greenwood has ‘reassigned’ Officer Jason Stamp to ‘alternative duties pending the outcome of the investigation’ into his dickery.

Kim Greenwood, Barrie Police Chief, just sent this to us, minutes ago.

Hopefully those duties don’t include him carrying a fucking gun or dealing with human beings.

Over the weekend, dozens of folks who’ve had unpleasant experiences with Officer Jason Stamp came forward to us with their experiences and thoughts about Officer Stamp’s current and past behavior and it was eye opening.

These are a fraction of the emails and info users have sent us over the past 72 hours.  Just the ones we can confirm and it makes you wonder what else we don’t know about Officer Stamp.  How many other human beings were treated like roadkill?  Who else has had the pleasure of interacting with a guy who’s mentally comfortable with smashing a defenseless human being’s head off the pavement, twice, for the crime of giving him the finger after getting a ticket for jaywalking?

The problem with being an asshole your whole life?  The epic stories of your assholery that surface when you act like an asshole in front of people with cell phones who happen to have a problem with you being an asshole.

And if you’re an asshole cop in 2021, you don’t stand a chance.

That’s what makes Officer Stamp’s actions so fucking ridiculous.  He’s threatening people with physical harm as he’s physically harming someone, as he’s being recorded by onlookers.

It’s almost like he’s immune to the consequences of his actions, which isn’t the sign of a cop who’s playing with a full deck.

I don’t want the police ‘defunded’ and I don’t want Officer Jason Stamp ‘canceled’.  I want this one man to be accountable for what he did to the defenseless Skylar Kent and every other Skyler Kent.

Putting The Prick on desk duty is a good start.  Conduct an internal review and have a few town halls. Use this as an opportunity to give the citizens of Barrie a voice to share their stories about their experiences with Barie Police and start affecting real change.

This whole exercise is pointless otherwise.
