Beavis and Butt-Head Turn 29

The year was 1993 and MTV was just about to enter it’s teenage years so it only makes sense that it would launch a cartoon about a couple of teenagers that essentially mocked it’s target audience. It was meta, before meta was cool. What MTV likely did not know is that they were unleasing a couple of teenager slackers that would change the world.

Beavis and Butt-Head was must watch TV for a kid my age. My parents didn’t want me watching it, so I would do everything in my power to watch it. My friends and I would constantly quote the show and I must have drove my parents insane with everytime I would stretch out the collar of a shirt just to say “I need TP for my bunghole.” I cannot imagine how annoying that must have been but now, as a Dad with two sons of my own, I fear I will find out in due time.

In addition to spawning terrible teenage impersenations all over the world Beavis and Butt-Head would go on to sell more merchandise than anyone could possibly have imagined including a full-length feature movie “Beavis and Butt-Head Do America”. More than that it created an atmosphere that would allow for shows like King of the Hill (another Mike Judge show) American Dad and South Park. It’s DNA is everywhere.

So happy birthday Beavis and Butt-Head. You maybe 29 today but you don’t look a day over 16.
