Boatmen Row To Victory in Preseason Finale

May 31, 2024

Welcome back folks, the CFL is in full swing as I took the trip down the 401 to the Royal City, Guelph, Ontario as the Toronto Argonauts faced off against QEW RIval Hamilton Ti-Cats as both teams finish off their preseasons.

Toronto took the ball first and returning kicker Lirim Hajrullahu drilled a 17-yard field goal to give Toronto a 3-0 lead. QB Cameron Dukes was impressive through the first series as he stated his case to get the team’s starting job.

On the other side of the ball, Hamilton is looking to see what they have in the younger guys and depth, as most of the team’s top guns like newly acquired Jamal Peters didn’t dress.

Toronto’s defence even in the preseason hasn’t missed a beat as they have kept Hamilton neutralized and even had a fumble which resulted in a Toronto TD from QB Cameron Dukes.

I know this article doesn’t have a lot of pop and flair but the preseason is about talent evaluation and even though, things are rocky off field, Toronto looks good heading into the regular season. Hamilton on the other end is looking to erase a 25 year championship drought.

The second half of the game most of the starters didn’t play, but this game is all about impressions as cuts loom tomorrow. On a side note, the city of Guelph and CFL did a good promoting this game and putting Hamilton in the game too added alot of tabbies fans making the trip up highway 6 and you have a sellout crowd at Alumni Stadium.

The game got exciting as Bryan Scott found Kevin Mital for an 82 yard strike to give Toronto a 19-3 lead as nightfall sets in here at Alumni Stadium.

Hamilton did answer after Harrsion Frost found Dezmon Patmon for a 38 yard strike, which was followed by Hamilton’s Ante Litre punching it in to cut the lead for Hamilton.

At the of the day, Toronto was too much for Hamilton as they won the game 25 – 14. As we head into the regular season, Toronto has aspirations to wash the bad taste of last years East Final lingers and Hamilton wants to leave their mark on the East division as new head coach Scott Milanovich didn’t come to the Hammer to rebulid the tabbies, these Ti- cats want to roar and roar loud. Onto the regular season we go.

Hi, my name is Griff and I'm a complete sports nut. I love to play sports, watch sports and most importantly bet on sports too. If I'm not watching or betting on sports, you can find me on the golf course, between the pipes as your average beer league goaltender. Although sports take up most of my life, I also love spending time with my two dogs, streaming usually a 90's Simpson's or attempting to read more books.
