You know, there are days when I can’t believe how fucking lucky I am. Today is one of those days.

I’m very grateful to introduce one of my favourite journalists, a nationally syndicated radio/TV host and one of the most important threads in the fabric of North American media personalities, Charles Adler, to Crier—co (Crier Media).

Crier is now the home of the Charles Adler “Unplugged” Podcast and Charles Adler columns –  and I’m coming out of my chair over here.

Charles seems to be excited too:

Charles and I spent the better part of 2 decades working for CORUS Entertainment (together). Charles was THE guy. An incredibly nationally syndicated orator, and popularizer, I would listen to Charles on the way home from work to tap into his cadence, covering subjects no one in this country would cover. I would sit in my car in amazement as he bounced between guests, liner promos, and monologues, wondering how Charles was so compelling and capable and how much brighter he was than us.

Charles is a rare human being. Not because of his magical ability to communicate. He’s egoless and wears kindness for fellow Canadians, regardless of ideology, like an old hoodie. While trying to hire Charles, he and I had several heartfelt and deep conversations. Lots of therapy for two radio guys who now have funding and a platform to bring some accountability to the incredibly valueless mobbed-up media landscape in Canada. Charles is the first – there will be others because it’s done already.

Charles will deliver whatever the fuck he wants anytime he wants, including launching his official podcast, weekly articles, etc. We want Charles to do his thing passionately. Another reason I love the man: Charles has had a sea change in politics. He has the stones to take the side of human beings, not political power centers. He walked away from the familiar ground to take the side of Canadians and common sense. Love. Truth. Kindness. Morality, Hope. Charles lives and breathes those values, as do we. Charles is a lodestar in digital media just from the odd podcast appearance and his work with the Winnipeg free press a few times a week. We just gave him what he needed to do it himself, and I plan on basking in the aftershock of “Charles Adler Unplugged.” He’s an uncompromised truth teller and there’s no one better in this country.

Charles reflects the values of Crier Media and 85% of Canadians. We’re tired. The world’s Bells, Rogers, and Postmedia(s) are lairs. Cheats. Valueless dicks who are compromised by political and ideological relationships. Not to mention the BILLIONS in government funding that we refuse to take. The reporters and personalities who work for those outlets are compromised by their government-subsidized paychecks, too.

Charles? Not so much.

Charles believes what I believe because we have a shared experience. Canadian media needs truthtellers. Our brands and trust scores outweigh ANY MSM outlets, and we know it. So does yours. Traditional media has done a fucking fantastic job convincing former employees to believe they are nothing without their logo on your business card. That’s a lie too, and Charles, Jesperson, Cross, Moscrop, and Brittlestar prove it daily. Now it’s time to scale the power individuals with trusted media brands have created outside the incestuous pool of uber media losers who think they have the gold.

You don’t. We do. People trust people, not billion-dollar Telcos and US hedge fund-owned penny savers rags, and propaganda outlets.  And, we’re coming because Canadian media needs an enema, and Charles and I have surgical gloves. Lots of them.
