I’ll be honest I’m not much of a sports guy so I don’t know who Bryson Stott is but I know cool shit when I see it and this is definitely some cool shit.
Phillies infielder Bryson Stott used a stunning custom bat during the 2023 Little League Classic on Sunday in Williamsport, Pennsylvania against the Nationals.
The 25-year-old, in back-to-school spirit, went with the uniquely designed No. 2 pencil bat during Sunday’s annual showdown as part of the festivities surrounding the Little League World Series.
The bat, which was made by the Pennsylvania-based bat company Victus, was designed to replicate a No. 2 pencil, including the bright pink eraser, green ferrule, yellow body and black tip.
Some of the other custom bats were made to look like mascots and crayons.
My initial reaction was much like yours “Oh that’s awesome!” then I wondered why this type of personality isn’t allowed every day? I think the players would be constantly trying to one-up each other and come up with some incredible designs. Additionally, I’ll bet there isn’t a huge market for bat sales in the merchandising department for MLB but there could be! Hell, I want that #2 bat for my wall right now!
But alas, baseball is an old sport run by old white men who hate progress and fun. (Remember the outrage over Jose Bautista’s bat flip?)
So this likely won’t be coming to ballpark near you any time soon but a guy can dream.
