Fearsome

The most powerful Can-Am version produced 1500 horsepower from a turbocharged flat 12 engine. It was capable of hitting speeds of 245 mph on the Mulsanne straight at Le Mans. That monster speed was combined with minimal downforce to reduce drag. Many of the 917’s parts were made from lightweight but explosively flammable magnesium, once again to save weight.
