Carson Wentz tears ACL

The Philadelphia Eagles season is over.

It’s being reported that Carson Wentz tore his ACL against the Los Angeles Rams this afternoon. Wentz was having himself a day before the injury, throwing for 291 yards and four touchdowns. Nothing is official as of yet, but Wentz will undergo an MRI on Monday. However the reports are hardly wrong and if true, the Eagles season will fall into the hands Nick Foles.

This must make Eagles fans sick, as Wentz was having an MVP type season. The second year quarterback had led the Eagles to an 11-2 record. Prior to today, Wentz had completed 60.7% of his throws for 3,005 yards and 29 touchdowns, while throwing just six interceptions. With the win today the Eagles clinched the NFC East and were thought to be Super Bowl contenders.

I’m sure the Philly faithful are currently trying to convince themselves that Nick Foles can pick up where Wentz left off and is the answer for the rest of the season. But as a non-Eagles fan and a realist, I’m putting a fork in ’em. It was good while it lasted and I have no doubt that Wentz will be back and better than ever next season. Unfortunately for Eagles fans, they’re off-season starts now.
