On Instagram today, the Prime Minister said “Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate.” Justin Trudeau’s father Pierre Elliot Trudeau, a Prime Minister who gave nearly two decades of his life to politics, took his famous walk in the snow shortly after his separation from Justin Trudeau’s mother, Margaret Trudeau.

Justin Trudeau in the book Common Ground said that much of what was written about his parent’s relationship was “lurid and inaccurate..my mother was not entirely the totally free spirit that her actions suggest” wrote the Prime Minister who was born nine months after his parents wed in 1971. The Prime Minister is still only 51. I note that because Joe Biden hasn’t been 51 in more than 30 years and Donald Trump should he be elected two years from now will be a few months shy of 80 should be sworn in as the 47 President in January of 2025. Canada’s election will most likely be in 2025. Today’s announcement is clearly going to create speculation that the person captaining the Liberal campaign in 2025 may be Justin Trudeau’s successor. I don’t know and anyone who tells they do is not telling you the truth.

Former federal judge Michael Luttig a staunch Republican who has been staunchly opposed to the idea of a Trump political resurrection says “He’ll be tried for grave offenses against the United States…They are as grave offenses as an incumbent president could commit against the US with the possible exception of treason…” If Donald Trump were an ordinary American there is zero doubt that if convicted, he would spend the rest of his life behind bars.
