Could IKEA’s Affordable Hot Dogs Be the Solution to the Food Crisis?
I’d like to call myself a connoisseur of food savings – I check flyers on a weekly basis, I clip coupons, and I’ve done hard shawarma math.
I discovered a new hack today: eating at Ikea. I’m not saying this is the healthiest option, but it’s an option.
Before picking up an order, I wandered into the smaller cafeteria at checkout at the Ottawa Ikea, and boy was I surprised:

Hotdogs are only $1! You can get 2 hotdogs and a drink for $3.
For a quick comparison at Loblaws:
- SCHNEIDERS Red Hots Original Hot Dogs are $6.99/package (.69 cents/hotdog)
- WONDER White Hot Dog Buns are $3.99/package (.49 cents/bun)
It’s .18 cents cheaper PER HOT DOG to get them at Ikea.
Since when did eating out become more affordable/just as affordable as picking up a few things at the grocery store?
Here’s the full Ikea Restaurant Takeout Menu where you can find 8-piece Swedish Meatballs with mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, Swedish cream sauce and lingonberry for only $8.49.
