Crier Media & Down By Two Make NFL Debut

Jan 6, 2024

It’s a new year and the network is kicking it off with a bang.

Crier Media and the Down By Two crew have been awarded media credentials to cover the Carolina Panthers, starting on week 18 and into the 2024 season.

With the growing coverage of the National Football League north of the border, the personalities and creators from across the network have been drumming up new ways to bring exclusive and creative content from both the CFL and NFL.

Now, for the first time ever, Crier Media and DB2 will be bringing exclusive media coverage, live on location from Charlotte, NC and shedding a spotlight on the NFC South.

Why the Panthers you ask?

Good question. They are the last place team in the entire league sitting at 2-14 heading into the final week of the season. However, as we strive to deliver Canadian content across the board, it’s only fitting to cover Edmonton product Chubba Hubbard. Breaking over 1,000 scrimmage yards this season, Chubba has emerged as Carolina’s QB1 over newly signed Miles Ssaners, who was acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles in the offseason.

Yes, this year has been abysmal. Yes, the Panthers would have had the first overall pick for the second consecutive season in a year. And yes, they did trade it away making the Chicago Bears the owners of the first overall pick of the 2024 draft.

All the better to buy low on a team that is looking to build around their young quarterback in Bryce Young. The Alabama product has definitely struggled this year, as the Panthers offense hasn’t been able to produce more than 18 points in a regular season game. One of their main positives on offense has been former Vikings WR Adam Thielen, which they scooped up in the off-season. Thielen has hit 1,000 receiving yards this year, with 4 TD’s, which passes his season projections.

As for the final game of the regular season for the Panthers, they have the chance to make things interesting int the south. If they find a way to beat Tampa Bay, the winner of the Saints and Falcons game will take the NFC South title and the Bucs season comes to an abrupt end.

Do not downplay the fire of the underdog to end a season without anything to lose. Expect the Panthers to raise a little hell and give Tampa some fits on defense. The line is set for Baker Mayfield to throw an interception at -113, which happened twice last week.

Not saying Tampa isn’t coming out with some fire. We have Mike Evans exceeding his receiving yards at over 62.5 and to score a touchdown this game. Last time these two faced in Week 13, the Buccaneers edged out the Panthers, in Tampa, 21-18. We’re going to roll with the Panthers on a slightly teased spread at +5.5 and the under on Tepper tossing his drink, since he blew his load last week in Jacksonville.

Follow along for continued coverage on the Carolina Panthers, NFC South and all across the National Football League.
