Alberta’s very own Discount Trump is now officially being probed by the Mounties — not for COVID, not for the Sovereignty Act, but for allegedly torching Alberta Health Services (AHS) in a privatization scam so greasy it makes Doug Ford’s Greenbelt grift look like Girl Guide cookie money.

And she’s willing to sacrifice Canada’s Unity to save her hide.

Here’s the Short Version:

Danielle’s government got caught handing sweetheart health care contracts to their friends in private companies—the kind of pals who somehow run their emails out of the company getting the contract.
Yup. You read that right.

A government staffer allegedly used a private supplier’s email domain to negotiate a pharmaceutical deal worth tens of millions in taxpayer money.

It’s totally normal. There’s nothing shady there, right? Check the notes. Oh, except the $70 million children’s medication contract they signed with MHCare Medical, under which— wait for it—only 30% of the meds showed up, but Alberta paid full price.

The same company, owned by a Danielle Smith donor, has received over $600 million in sole-sourced and inflated government-funded healthcare programs, including life-saving surgeries and surgical clinics.

That’s not a procurement — that’s a f***ing ransom payment.

Athana Mentzelopoulos — The Whistleblower They Fired

The whole house of cards collapsed when former AHS CEO Athana Mentzelopoulos blew the whistle. She claims Smith’s gang fired her because she started asking real questions about the “private surgical providers” getting fat stacks with zero oversight.

  • Conflicts of interest? Check.
  • Kickbacks? Allegedly.
  • Political interference from Smith’s office? Big check.

Smith and Health Minister Adriana LaGrange are both named in the lawsuit, but of course, they’re all shrugging it off — “Nothing to see here, folks!”

Enter the RCMP (Again)

The RCMP smelled smoke and officially launched a criminal investigation. But because this is Alberta, Danielle’s damage control was chef’s kiss predictable — hire a former judge with no power to subpoena and call it a “third-party review.”

Translation: The government investigates itself and finds nothing wrong. Bold strategy, Cotton.

So, What’s the Endgame, Danielle?

Simple. When you’re up to your neck in potential corruption charges, change the channel. Hence this week’s “National Unity Crisis” cosplay where Smith runs to Mark Carney, slaps down a list of MAGA-friendly demands and pretends Alberta’s future is on the line.

The “Alberta Sovereignty” grift is officially in full swing, and Premier Danielle Smith just took it up a notch with a fresh round of manufactured rage.

Fresh off her closed-door meeting with PM-in-waiting Mark Carney, Smith waddled out to the mics and did what all good populists do when they’re this close to being swallowed by a scandal — she played the “national unity” card and came loaded with demands that read like they were ghostwritten by Stephen Miller and faxed over from Mar-a-Lago.

Danielle’s MAGA Manifesto to Carney:

  • Repeal Bill C-69 (“No New Pipelines” Act)
  • Lift the BC tanker ban
  • Kill the oil & gas emissions cap
  • Scrap the Clean Electricity Regs
  • End the single-use plastics ban (because f*ck the turtles, right?)
  • Axe the net-zero EV mandate
  • Hand Alberta control of the carbon tax
  • Demand unfettered oil corridors
  • AND—wait for it—”halt federal censorship of energy companies” (???)

Cool. So basically every wet dream the MAGA oil lobby and climate arsonists have been pushing for years. Only thing missing was a demand to re-ban gay marriage and give Bigfoot drilling rights.

This Isn’t a National Unity Crisis — It’s a Distraction

Why now, Danielle?

Well, it’s a funny story. The RCMP has launched a major fraud investigation into Smith and her inner circle for what appears to be insider dealing and fraud after she fired the entire AHS board who were set to give the investigation findings to the RCMP.

Nah, Danielle. The only thing actually on the line is your political survival — and this AHS mess might finally be the scandal that sticks.

TL;DR:

  • Alberta’s healthcare dollars are allegedly being funneled into private pockets.
  • Kids didn’t get their medicine, but someone got paid.
  • The Premier’s office was allegedly all over it.
  • RCMP are now investigating.
  • Danielle’s response? National Unity Crisis.
  • It’s Trump 101: Outrun corruption by setting the country on fire.

This one smells like handcuffs.
