Death By 1000 Cuts: Argonauts Lose 30-12
In an overcast night down by the lakefront in Toronto, we got a rematch between the Argonauts and the Alouettes from last year’s East Final.
The action got off to a fast start as Toronto went up 3-0 on a field goal but it was Tyson Philpot who found the endzone for Montreal, putting the Alouettes up 7-3 early.

The rest of the first and second quarters was Montreal extending the lead to 10-6 as Toronto’s defence looks to smother the Alouettes air attack. The Al’s air attack on offence is death by 10,000 cuts as run by franchise legend Anthony Calvillo. This game has given Toronto opportunity after opportunity to get the lead back, but have failed to convert and need to get into the endzone ASAP.
The Alouettes had the ball on third and short with backup Caleb Evans in at QB and turned a potential sneak for first down into a 44 yard touchdown strike and the Alouettes stiffen the lead over the Double Blue into 23-9 with 5 minutes left in the third quarter. on this Canada Day weekend, Montreal’s Jeshrun Antwi converts the pooch punt for a first down.
Could there be anything more perfect on Canada Day weekend?

Toronto did get some momentum as Jonathan Edouard got his first career INT, but couldn’t convert,The big story of the night and I know there’s controversy with Chad Kelly but, QB Cameron Dukes is failing to make the plays rolling out of the pocket that Chad Kelly would normally make. Cameron Dukes also threw his first INT of the season, a night that hasn’t been ugly and it’s looking like the teams home winning streak is coming to an end.

The main story of this game has been Montreal and Cody Fajardo’s ability to extend plays and roll out of the pocket, plus Caleb Evans having two touchdowns, was a big factor into the win, the game sees Toronto go to 2-1 on the year and Montreal improves to 4-0 on the season.
This game highlights two things, one this isn’t the 2023 Argonauts and two, what Chad Kelly was accused of is hurting the organization, as if he played tonight, who knows what would’ve happened. However, the game did end of somewhat of a postive as Bryan Scott came in at QB and found Makai Polk for the 40 yard score, softening the blow as they lose 30-20.

Hi, my name is Griff and I'm a complete sports nut. I love to play sports, watch sports and most importantly bet on sports too. If I'm not watching or betting on sports, you can find me on the golf course, between the pipes as your average beer league goaltender. Although sports take up most of my life, I also love spending time with my two dogs, streaming usually a 90's Simpson's or attempting to read more books.
