Developer Funded Ontario Proud helped get Ford elected So Gutting the Greenbelt was always the goal

Remember when Doug Ford said this?

Laura Babcock (@LauraBabcock) wasn’t having any of Ford’s BS:

That 2018 “promise”, by the way, is still on the Ontario Progressive Conservative website:

Ontario PC Leader Doug Ford promises not to touch the Greenbelt

That “promise” he made five years to get elected was a lie, and we all know it.

Not just because of this:

“We will open up the Greenbelt. Not all of it! We’re gonna open a big chunk of it up and we’re gonna start building.”

“I’ve already talked to some of the biggest developers in this country. And again, I wish I could say it’s my idea, but it was their idea as well. Give us property, we’ll build, and we’ll drive the cost down. That’s my plan for affordable housing.” – Doug Ford, 2018

That “promise” was complete BULLSHIT, as is evident by the fact that developers were the MAJOR FUNDERS of Jeff Ballingall’s Ontario Proud, which was credited with helping Ford defeat former Premier Wynne.

Ontario Proud, a group credited with helping Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservatives win the provincial election, received nearly $460,000 in corporate donations to fund its campaign efforts, new documents reveal. Development companies and construction firms contributed the bulk of Ontario Proud’s election campaign funding, according to the group’s newly submitted report to Elections Ontario.

TBT: A Brief History of Ontario/Canada Proud

Here is Ford in 2018 meeting with Terrance Oakey of Merit Ontario. Merit was a major donor to Ontario Proud.

Oakey went on to work with Hamish Marshall over at One Persuades during Scheer’s campaign. Ontario Proud hired One Persuades to do advertising.

It was the plan all along. Ontario Proud helped to get rid of Wynne and now Ford cut the Greenbelt deal for his buddies.

Today Ford said not only is he not backing down from this deal but is going to have Paul Callandra decide if they’re going to “open up” even more.

More rezoning, eh?

Here’s what “Mr. X” had to say about that:

I guess that’s where the REAL money is.

Plus Poilievre is saying he’s going to be King Gatekeeper by forcing Provincial and municipal government to get rid of “red tape” (See: Safety and Environmental Protections) or he’ll withhold federal funds.

Poilievre says he’d remove ‘red tape’ on housing permits if elected prime minister

Wouldn’t that just be perfect timing for Ford’s donor buddies and builders?

I’ll end with this:

Cons always always always accuse their enemies …
