Dictators, Denials, and Digital Chaos: The BEST Moments From Trump and Musk’s Unhinged “X-travaganza”

Aug 13, 2024

The death of MAGA and all things Trump are my favorite vibes for 2024, and they are in full swing.

It’s over. Trump is yesterday’s opportunity, and the free world won’t give him another pass. We’re all packed up. There’s no mystery to Trump anymore. The entertainment value is gone even though he’s still super watchable (JD Vance isn’t).

Since bouncing Biden, Democrats have started to CRUSH any hope of a second Trump term because the other guy isn’t another old white guy in a diaper. Elon is giving Trump (rumored) 40 million a month and decided that he could only turn Trump’s slide around with a one-on-one interview, the likes of which no one has ever seen. LOL.

If you missed the mega, super awesome, most important interview in the history of interviews—Musk/Trump—you missed some “sluriffic” schadenfreude.

Trump and Musk’s X Interview: A Spectacle of Chaos and Controversy

In a highly anticipated event that left many viewers bewildered, former President Donald Trump and tech mogul Elon Musk engaged in what can only be described as a chaotic and controversial conversation on X (formerly Twitter) this Monday night. The much-hyped “interview” quickly became a display of mutual admiration, disjointed verbal blowies easily disprovable rhetoric. It left audiences (with a brain) questioning if Trump mainlined Sudafed just before the interview, which is being panned as yet another Musk disaster (I’m a fan of “catastrophe,” but “disaster” works).

Technical Troubles and Timing Woes

The event started with a rocky start, delayed by 42 minutes due to what Musk claimed was a denial of service attack. However, tech news outlet The Verge reported that this claim was unsubstantiated, adding a layer of confusion to the already perplexing affair. You’d think the owners of a streaming platform would know how to stream on time, but ALAS, the most brilliant “men” in the world, couldn’t figure it out, so they started almost an hour late. I know the feeling, but I don’t own the world’s biggest tech companies.

A Reunion on X

Trump’s appearance marked his return to the platform after a lengthy absence following his suspension in the wake of the January 6 Capitol attack. While Musk had previously lifted the suspension, Trump had refrained from posting until the day of this event, building anticipation among his followers. Trump agreed to the return because his Truth Social platform got some bad news last week: They’re under SEC investigation for money laundering, lost 343 million this quarter, and only have 560k active users (Truth Social is bankrupt) and will have to shut it down. In Reality, Truth will probably sue Trump for Breach of Contract, but abandoning ships he lights on fire is what Trump does best.

Trump’s team boldly proclaimed the chat “the biggest interview in history” and the “interview of the century.” However, the reality fell far short of these lofty claims, with the conversation meandering through various topics without depth or substance.

Key Moments and Controversial Claims? Oh yeah, Daddy…

  1. Assassination Attempt Discussion: The conversation began with an extensive discussion about an assassination attempt on Trump, with Musk offering effusive praise for the former president’s reaction. Trump wasn’t shot, and they both know that. When lying about getting shot, the best defense is always a good offense.

2. Immigration Rhetoric: Trump reiterated his controversial stance on immigration, making unsubstantiated claims about other countries “emptying their asylums.”

3. Praise for Dictators: In a surprising turn (not so much), both Trump and Musk spoke positively about authoritarian leaders, with Trump describing dictators as “tough, smart, and vicious.”

4. Attacks on Political Opponents: The duo didn’t hold back in criticizing President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, with Musk saying, “It’s clearly like we don’t have a president right now.” That was the extent of their attack on Kamala other than calling her Camilla for 90 minutes.

The Harris/Walz campaign team summed it up best:

LOL.

Public Reaction and Media Response?

In A Meme?

The event has sparked widespread discussion across social media platforms, with many viewers expressing disappointment in the lack of substantive dialogue. Media outlets have quickly analyzed the conversation, highlighting its more controversial moments and questioning its impact on Trump’s public image. There isn’t a news outlet on the planet not named Fox or OAN that isn’t roundly mocking Trump and his BIZARRE 90-minute ADHD fest today.

What’s Next for Trump?

Who gives a shit.

Jail, hopefully. Where he’ll live out his remaining days counting cockroaches and holding pockets of other inmates.

As Trump continues to work to remain in the public eye, this latest appearance raises questions about his media strategy, his mental fitness, and whether RFK infected Trump with a brain worm from all the roadkill RFK eats. With traditional outlets becoming increasingly critical of his rhetoric, the former president may rely more heavily on alternative platforms and sympathetic interviewers. Thus, He’s back on Twitter (don’t forget about Truth Social’s bankruptcy)

While Trump’s team may attempt to spin this event as a success, the consensus seems to be that it was an absolute fucking disaster, and I LOVED every second of it. As the 2024 election season approaches, it remains to be seen how such appearances will influence public opinion and shape the political landscape. Still, the general mood in MAGA land is anger and dismay today. Not that they can correctly identify or interpret those feelings, but MAGA is swirling the bowl, and all he has left is to threaten his own people with a nuclear holocaust if they don’t vote for him.

And 1 billion people didn’t watch this. According to X Love reporting, the latest number is around 4-5 million people tuned into parts of the stream.

Elon said 1 billion people tuned in.

He’s lying. According to our data, 1 billion people saw, commented on, or were exposed to the Trump/Musk promo and interview (impressions are not engagement).

Let me explain. Here are my Twitter analytics for the past three days:

22.3 million people have SEEN my content on Twitter. That doesn’t mean 22.3 million people listen to a podcast I put out or watch an interview clip on my Twitter feed. Roughly 4 percent of those people engaged (watched, RT’d, replied, etc). Those numbers translate into 2 million media views.

Elon is misrepresenting impressions as a media view or engagement…

Personally, I loved the Musk/Trump sit-down. Just a couple of guys trying to rig the game, both high AF, destroying any reputational capital they have left on their way to one of history’s greatest trash heaps.

I’m here for THAT.
