Do The Miami Dolphins Have What It Takes To Slow Down Josh Allen?
If we’re being honest with ourselves. Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills weren’t very convincing on Sunday. Neither were the Miami Dolphins, but both AFC East rivals figured out a way to win their season openers. Now, they’ll square off in Week 2 for Thursday Night Football.
The Bills came back after being down 17-3 to beat the Arizona Cardinals 34-28. Josh Allen had a fumble in the first quarter, Kyler Murray and the Cardinals looked like they had the Bills number, everything looked completely off to start the season for Buffalo.
Second half, different story. Buffalo’s defence adjusted, Josh Allen found his second rushing touchdown and the Bills were able to neutralize the Cardinals.
The Miami Dolphins had their own set of obstacles to overcome. ‘The Cheetah’ got caught for speeding as Tyreek Hill was pulled over and detained just outside of the Dolphins facilities just before the game, sparking controversy with how Miami Police handled the situation. How does he respond? With a 80 yard touchdown in the second half leading the Dolphins to a 20-17 come from behind win.
Without much time to clean up, these two AFC East foes have to adjust quickly. BET99 has Miami favoured to win at home, on the moneyline at -125 odds. So instead of a coin flip, let’s go back to the well for what we know to be consistent.
The Play
Josh Allen Over 280 Passing + Rushing Yards (-115)
Even though Allen managed 232 passing yards and 39 rushing yards for a total combined 271 yards Week 1 against the Cardinals, you have to think that the Bills will work out any kinks offensively and spread the ball out a bit more. Buffalo heavily relied on the Allen and Cook combination to lead them to their comeback win against the Cardinals.
Now they square up against their division rivals in the Miami Dolphins where Josh Allen has feasted before. Last year, Allen surpassed his pass+rush total tallying 679 passing yards in the two games against the Dolphins. That’s just passing yards alone, not counting his 84 additional rushing yards, and against a Dolphins defence that ranks 20th against QB production after Week 1, you have to feel comfortable with Allen smashing this total.
Josh Allen Anytime Touchdown (-140)
This one doesn’t require much of an explanation. He scored the first touchdown of the season for Buffalo last Sunday and found the endzone 12 out of 17 games last season, with a total of 15 during the regular season.
Miami would have let up 2 rushing touchdowns to Jacksonville’s Travis Etienne last week if it wasn’t for the Running Back’s fumble in the endzone. Look for Allen to punch his ticket when the Bills find themselves at 1st & Goal.
