Donald Trump “Plans” to Redraw the US-Canada Border and Control the Great Lakes and Toronto

It’s ok, Canada. He doesn’t want the whole country, just a few Great Lakes and all of Southern Ontario…
LEAKED reports suggest that former U.S. President Donald Trump intends to redraw the border between the United States and Canada to take control of the Great Lakes and potentially annex southeastern Ontario. These claims mark a dramatic shift in U.S.-Canada relations and could have significant geopolitical and environmental ramifications.

Reports of Border Revision Discussions
According to The New York Times, Trump reportedly told Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that he did not believe the treaty establishing the border between the two nations was valid and wanted to revise it. However, he did not provide further details or justifications for this assertion.
Additionally, Trump is said to have expressed interest in revisiting agreements that regulate the shared use of lakes and rivers between the two nations. This has raised concerns about potential U.S. attempts to renegotiate or even abandon existing treaties governing the Great Lakes.
Canadian Response and Hot Mic Revelations

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard “I Have No Idea What I’m Talking About” Lutnick reinforced this sentiment by telling Canadian Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc that Trump understood that the U.S.-Canada relationship was governed by numerous agreements that could be abandoned with relative ease.
They can’t.
Three Key Issues Raised by Trump
- Ejecting Canada from the Five Eyes Intelligence Alliance
- The Five Eyes alliance includes the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand. Removing Canada from this intelligence-sharing group would significantly alter North American security dynamics.
- Dismantling Great Lakes Agreements
- Treaties and conventions governing the management of Lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario could be scrapped, allowing the U.S. to control more of the region’s freshwater resources.
- Reevaluating U.S.-Canada Military Cooperation and NORAD
- The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) has been a cornerstone of the two nations’ joint defense efforts. Excluding Canada from NORAD would weaken continental defense and disrupt existing military operations.
The Great Lakes and a Potential Land Grab
Most of Canada’s freshwater is found in the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River. While Lake Michigan is entirely within the U.S., the remaining lakes are split between the two nations, with Canada controlling about 60% of their surface area.
For the U.S. to gain greater control over the lakes, it would need to either:
- Redraw the border northward along the shores of Lakes Superior, Huron, Erie, and Ontario.
- Annex southeastern Ontario, including Toronto, gives the U.S. total control of Lakes Erie, Ontario, and most of Huron.
Questionable Practicality of Kicking Canada Out of NORAD
Removing Canada from NORAD would be a significant challenge. The North Warning System, a key missile detection network, is primarily based in Canada. Additionally, Canada hosts crucial Forward Operating Locations for fighter interceptors, making its exclusion impractical from a defense standpoint.
SO?
While the feasibility of these proposals remains fucking ridiculous and not doable, the mere discussion of redrawing the U.S.-Canada border and restructuring international agreements is the stuff of r******. The implications of these alleged plans speak to Trump’s bullshit Tariff fight. He thinks he can destroy our economy and demoralize Canadians into giving him our economic hub (Southern Ontario) and a few of the Great Lakes.
Maybe he needs to test our metal again. It’s worked well so far.
