Don’s NFL Picks | Week 13

Nov 30, 2017
|

I’m a genius. There’s no other way to say it than that. I went a hard 14-2 this past week, and if not for the Chiefs and Jaguars, I could have went 16-0. But I digress. So here we are. I now have the responsibility of holding this crown. And unlike some, I will not crack under this pressure. But before we get into this weeks genius, as always, let’s talk about where I went wrong.

Where I went wrong

The god-damn Chiefs

Where do I start? I could not be more disappointed in the Chiefs. They were hot, red hot. And now they’re losing to teams like the Bills. The Chargers put up 54 points on the Bills last week. And the Chargers stink. And before that the Saints put up 47 points on the Bills. And before that the Jets, the Jets, put up 34 points on the Bills.

My point?

The explosive Chiefs should’ve scored much more than 10 points. I told you that I thought this was going to be a close game. But I also thought that both teams were going to score points. I had faith in this team, but no longer. I take back the article I wrote on Alex Smith being underrated. Until further notice the Chiefs are dead to me.

Jaguars do Jaguars things

This one I’m not as upset with. To be honest, this was a tough pick to begin with. The Jaguars seem to be week-to-week and are tough to pick. Blaine Gabbert was starting at quarterback for the Cardinals. So I thought that would all but guarantee a Jaguars win. Unfortunately, Gabbert showed up to play and threw for 241 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Well played Arizona, well played.

Games to Watch

Redskins vs. Cowboys

It’s a divisional game. So they always play each other really well. Neither team is playing great. But both teams have shown glimpses of good. The Cowboys just aren’t the same team without Zeke. Dak isn’t Dak without him. Despite it being a home game for the Cowboys, I’m gonna take the Redskins on the road.

Vikings vs. Falcons

This is going to be a ridiculous game. It’s gonna be skill vs. will, talent vs. grit. The Falcons are without question the more talented team. If you compare athletes across all positions, Atlanta is far superior. But the Vikings are tough, they’re gritty and they’re playing really, really good football. When in doubt, you gotta take the home team. So I’m taking Atlanta at home in what I expect to be the game of the week.

Panthers vs. Saints

These are two teams that are super difficult to pick. Neither team has really been overly impressive. But both teams have found ways to win. I feel like this game is going to come down to a mistake. Whether that be a fumble, interception, or whatever. I’m not confident in picking the Panthers. But I think they’ve got the better defence, which will force New Orleans to make that game-winning mistake.
