Don’s NFL Picks | Week 8

Last week was rough. This week, I am a football god. Ok, I may be over exaggerating a bit. But 11-4 feels really good after last weeks debacle. I steered out of the winds of shit, and can successfully say that you can once again have confidence in my picks. As usual though, lets start with where I did (barely) miss last week.

Where I went wrong

Chiefs vs. Raiders

I don’t what is happening with the Chiefs as of late. But they are simply coming up short in games. The Raiders, who’ve been atrocious so far this season, looked like the Raiders we all were expecting. It doesn’t hurt when the opposing defence has three penalties that allow you three separate chances at a game winning touchdown. Luckily they play a Broncos squad that has had their own struggles as of late also.

Jets vs. Dolphins

Who are either of these teams. The Jets were thought to go 0-16. They’re better than expected. And the Dolphins are 4-2. Jay Cutler even went down with injury, and Miami still found a way to win. We live in a bizarro world folks. The Dolphins are in contention for the AFC East. No one knows what is happening. It’s anarchy people, ANARCHY.

Panthers vs. Bears

The Bears suck. I mean, they really, really suck. But somehow the Panthers found a way to lose to this group of bums. Rookie quarterback, Mitchell Trubisky completed just four passes in this game. And the Bears offence didn’t score a single touchdown. Yet the Panthers somehow lost. How? Cam Newton is the most overrated quarterback in the NFL.

Broncos vs. Chargers

What is wrong with the Broncos? Trevor Siemian has just been plain awful. In the last four games, he’s thrown just two touchdowns to five interceptions. And somehow, after losing four straight games, the Chargers have won three in a row and found themselves back in the race for the AFC West. The Broncos offence better get their shit together, because they have the Chiefs, Eagles, and Patriots the next three weeks.

Games to Watch

Falcons vs. Jets

The Falcons have been disappointing. The Jets have been surprising. Disregard their records. This game is going to be fun. They’re both bad enough to allow a lot of points, and good enough to keep racking them up. And like the Jets season thus far, I surprisingly like the Jets at home. They’re tough. And the Falcons are not. I’ll take the Jets at home.

Raiders vs. Bills

I actually like the Bills at home. But after the Raiders upset the Chiefs, it’s hard not to think that Derek Carr is back. Surprisingly the Bills are favoured to win. The NFL is a quarterback league though. And when all things are equal, Derek Carr is a far better option than Tyrod Taylor. I like Raiders in a close game on the road.

Texans vs. Seahawks

I find this game highly intriguing. Deshaun Watson has been a life force in Houston. This kid is the real deal, and I am all up on those nuts. Seattle is 4-2, but haven’t really played like a 4-2 team. It’s super tough to get a win in Seattle, but I like Houston’s chances. I think Watson shows the world what he can do against the former Super Bowl champs in a tight game.

Cowboys vs. Redskins

Both teams are 3-3. The Cowboys are coming off a big win against a shit team. The Redskins are coming off a close loss to one of the best teams in the NFL. Dallas has shown glimpses of last years success, but haven’t been able to do it consistently. The Redskins are about the same. When in doubt go with the home team. I like Kirk Cousins to get it done in Washington.
