Don’s NFL Picks: Week 5

Oct 4, 2018

Don’t call it a comeback. Seriously, don’t. 9-6 is not good. It’s better than the last two weeks, but it’s not good. I could have done better. But I got excited a little too early on teams like the Browns, Bills, and Steelers. So what happened last week?

The Bills are still the Bills

I want the Bills to be good SO badly. I’m not a Bills fan, but my god the Billsmafia deserve it. I can’t help but root for the underdog. But even though the Bills had themselves a performance against the Vikings, they aren’t quite ready to turn the table, or slam through it.

Baker Mayfield is the man, but it may not lead to wins yet

Much like the Bills, I want the Browns to succeed. Cleveland is cursed. They had a football team. That team was moved to Baltimore. They got their team back. And they’ve sucked the entire time. I feel for Brown fans. But I may not have to feel for them very long. Baker Mayfield threw for 295 yards and two-touchdowns against the Raiders. He also threw two-interceptions. He’s gonna be good, but it’s not going to lead to wins quite yet.

Patrick Mahomes is my MVP

I love this kid. Four-games, 1,200 yards, 14 touchdowns, and zero-interceptions. Oh, and did I mention the Chiefs are 4-0? He also showed us that you can count on him when the chips are down as well on Monday night. Kansas City was down 20-13 going into the fourth quarter, and Patrick Mahomes lead his team to two-touchdowns and a win over the Denver Broncos. That’s my quarterback.

Games to Watch

Packers vs. Lions

Shockingly, I believe this is gonna be a game to watch. Although the Lions are 1-3, they beat the Patriots and have lost two of their games by a combined five-points. They aren’t a team to be walked over. And although I’m picking the Packers to win, the Lions can easily win this game.

Viking vs. Eagles

The Vikings are 1-2-1, but have been putting up points all season. They may have lost last week, but they lost after putting up 31-points. The Eagles didn’t win last week, but they’re still Super Bowl Champs, and Carson Wentz is still an MVP calibre quarterback. I’ve still gotta favour the Eagles, because Minnesota’s defence is shit.

Redskins vs. Saints

The Redskins are the real deal. Alex Smith is doing what Alex Smith does, managing the game and expectations. While Adrian Peterson is looking like a younger version of himself, rushing for 236 yards and three-touchdowns. The Saints are also on a roll with a 3-1 record. Drew Brees is still Drew Brees, completing 76% of his throws for 1,300 yards, 8 touchdowns and zero-interceptions. This game is going to be better than some expect.
