Sweet jesus, it’s here. Another NFL season, as a Lions fan especially, of beer, fried foods, and utter disappointment. I’ve got four fantasy line-ups set. I’ve got a pack of Busch beer sitting in the fridge. And a very serious decision in a few hours between KFC and Reginos pizza.
However, what I’m not unsure about is my ability to pick games.
And I’m willing to put my picks against yours every week. So this is how this is going to work. If you think my picks are shit than prove it. Take to the comments section, Twitter, or whichever social platform you’re most comfortable with, and share your picks with me: Don Schram.
Then at the end of the week if you’ve gotten lucky, and actually out-picked me than call me out. And don’t be afraid to give me your best. I’ll retweet, or quote the best and most original call-outs. Do not get it twisted though. This is a two-way street. So if you want to go toe-to-toe and lose, you’re getting made a fool also.
Don’s Picks | Week 1
Chiefs vs. Patriots
This is a lay-up pick. The Chiefs will be good, but not good enough. Although the Patriots have lost Edelman for the season, it won’t matter. New England will do what New England does, move on and continue winning. As long as Bill Belichick is coaching, and Tom Brady is under center the Patriots will be Super Bowl contenders. This will be a better game than the scoreboard will indicate, but will end with a Patriots decisive win.
Seahawks vs. Packers
This is the game. Two of the very best quarterbacks in the league going head-to-head. These teams are actually pretty similar on paper. Young mobile quarterbacks, weak offensive lines, great tight-ends, and sneaky good receivers. The difference in this game will be defences, and the Seahawks are significantly better. Once upon a time playing in Lambeau Field was a factor, but that is no longer the case. I’ll take the Seahawks over the Packers in a shootout.
Giants vs. Cowboys
This will be a great game. Eli Manning has become a bit of a joke, but is still a top quarterback in this league. His biggest issue has been a lack of talent, with the exception of OBJ. That won’t be the case this year. The Giants have added to their roster this off-season, including veteran wide-receiver Brandon Marshall. The issue in this game for the Giants is that Dallas is young, talented, and hungry. I expect Dallas to walk away with a close win.
Chargers vs. Broncos
This is a tough one.
My gut wants to go Broncos because they’re at home, and it’s difficult to win on the road in the NFL. But this isn’t the same Broncos team that won the Super Bowl just a few seasons ago. Trevor Siemian is a bum. C.J. Anderson is a bum. And regardless how good that receiving core is, it’s tough to score touchdowns, or even gain yards, when your quarterback should be holding a clipboard.
The Chargers aren’t great defensively, but offensively are a far better team. Philip Rivers is one of the better quarterbacks in the league, despite his age. And has proven that he can win on the road in Denver. The NFL is a quarterback league. So I’ve got to pick this one solely based on who’s under center for both teams. I’ll take the Chargers in a tight game in Denver.

Send Me Your Best
That’s it. Like I said, send me your picks and tag me in your call-outs. Tell me why I’m an idiot, why I don’t know what I’m talking about, or even why I’m dead-on. I’ll retweet or quote the best and funniest. I’ll see you all at the end of the week. Happy football day, cheers.
