I was listening to the Radio this morning after dropping my son off at work, and they talked about the dusting of Ontario’s Science Table, which was charged with assessing COVID risks two years ago.

Doug Ford told them all to fuck off, and he plans to replace them with a more politically “friendly,” less transparent group because Doug hates you and hates being told what to do, especially if it gets in the way of farming out government money/positions to his friends.

I wasn’t going to blog about this because it doesn’t matter. Doug and his fraudulent CMO, Kieran Moore, never gave a shit about the health of 15 million Ontarians. It’s pointless to cover COVID because of the fatigue and vaccination rates, but this is different. Doug and Ontario’s conservative government legislate ways to hide and lie, which is just another example. Also, Dougie gets to appoint and pay people who agree with him and his plan instead of those pesky unbiased scientists who donated their time for two years.

And to be fair, we’re never going back to mandates or mask restrictions despite record deaths and the collapse of health care because this is what Doug and his conservative party want. Money and influence matter more to them than the life of a comorbid 75-year-old sweating their balls off in a long-term care facility or hundreds of thousands of human beings struggling with long covid.

It’s another layer of insulation from accountability and transparency that’s par for the course for Dougie.

Ontario is nothing more than a kleptocratic government full of oligarchs at this point. Doug knows that and robes his friends because it’s another layer to his game of “fuck and seek,” where he turns the screws on human beings to enrich somehow/protect himself.

However, does it matter? No one seems to be clamoring for lockdowns or masks, and COVID is endemic, like the flu, so do we need someone telling us what the risks are after two years of being threatened with them? I mean, adults should be able to take the training wheels off their decision-making regarding risk mitigation. I never look at hospitalization rates or daily deaths anymore because I’ve just accepted that COVID isn’t going anywhere, so I manage it with vaccines and masks where applicable. Arguing with anyone over their vaccination status is pointless. Unless that person is a massive asshole about it, I could give a fuck. I’ll tear those assholes down all day long for fun. Both ways.

Losing unbiased transparency still sucks, but I’ve accepted that’s what governments do, so whatever. I’m smoking a brisket tonight and don’t plan on ‘clubbing’ anytime soon.

I’ve also accepted a portion of Canada cares more about themselves than the community because we all have very different values. Those with selfish values share those values across the board and aren’t part of a functional society. They were selfish assholes long before COVID turned them into legitimate threats. They’re just assholes who found a community of assholes who can’t stop pretending they’re involved in a cosplay war with other dumb assholes, so it tracks.
