DTTB Ep.60 – The Beaches are back with a new ep ‘Future Lovers’

Darryl Spring May 18, 2021

The Beaches have had a string of huge songs since getting national notoriety back in 2017, but their roots stem back 10 years before that.  They’ve accomplished a lot, their 2nd single hit #1 in Canada, they’ve shared the stage with The Rolling Stones & Foo Fighters and they’ve made friends with Brody Dalle and Eagles of Death Metal.  All of it, very impressive for a band that’s just getting started.

FUTURE LOVERS is their new release, this EP has 4 bangers and a song that gave me concern about Jordan’s relationship with The Glorious Sons frontman Brett Emmons.  Turns out there is a song about him on the EP, but not the one I was worried about.

They released the 2nd single ‘Blow Up’ along with the EP this past Friday, and after spending a bit of time with it, my pick is ‘Bad Behavior’.   It opens with a Ray Davies like distorted guitar lick, now that I think of they’d probably do a killer version of ‘You Really Got Me’, despite the cliché of it all.  That’s just my pick, the EP is really strong!

But make no mistake, this new collection of songs are meant to shake asses.  These ladies have had enough of the lockdown and seem to want to get out and dance again.

This was a fun interview and I hope you enjoy getting to know Jordan, Kylie, Leandra & Eliza
