DTTB Ep.61 – MONTREALS THE DAMN TRUTH ARE BACK WITH NEW MUSIC. PURE, UNCUT ROCK N’ ROLL

The Damn Truth is back with a new record called NOW OR NOWHERE. Which is only the bands 3rd album, with their debut DEAR IN THE HEADLIGHTS coming out in 2012.
They truly hit their stride on on the 2016 album DEVILISH FOLK. If you’re just getting to know The Damn Truth a great starting point are the songs GET WITH YOU and HEART IS COLD. They show 2 great sides of this band, catchy dance worthy/ass shakin’ Rock n’ Roll, then the power blues Yin to the dancin’ Yang, if you will.
The new record has 9 songs, they sound BIG and perfectly suited for Summer time. Legendary producer Bob Rock surely has something to do with that. They truly shine on songs when lead singer Lee-La Baum let’s loose ad starts screaming. A powerhouse voice that is justifiably on the level of a Grace Slick or Janis Joplin. That’s a fairly easy comparison in fact given their sound. It makes perfect sense if you’ve seen them live, that’s where The Damn Truth (like all great bands) truly shine, on stage!
Here’s a great example of her voice on showcase, track 4 on the record is LONELY, a good example of the power blues side of the band. Lee-la lets it fly at the 1:55 mark of the song. It’s undeniable.
NOW OR NOWHERE is a record that’s going to be the perfect Rock n’ Roll soundtrack to summer. June 9th is the closest we’ll get to seeing them live (for now) as they’ll play a record release live stream.
So happy that they’re back with new music, and it was great to catch up with them again.
