Dustin Byfuglien Contemplating Retirement?

Robert MacKenzie with a heater this morning.  We need a Bob McKenzie saying like Ardian Wojnarowski’s “Woj-Bomb”.

“BobbyMac-Bomb”?  “Robert’s-Revalation”?

Either way, Baaaaad news for the Winnipeg Jets:

I love Big Buff.  I loved him in Chicago and loved him more in Winnipeg.

I love that he beat the shit out of Evander Kane for that tracksuit business a few years ago separating Kane’s shoulder in the process.

I love the fact he loves Winnipeg.  I love that he’d rather fish and drink than play hockey.

And I REALLY love the rumor he’s thinking of pulling an Andrew Luck.

Buff is a throwback.  Body first, brain later.  There’s no one in the NHL like him and won’t be for a while depending on what he decides. he plays every position on the ice and never complains about losing or how cold Manitoba is in February.

He’s got $ and a ring.  He has a young family and the way he plays the game, his 14 years in the NHL probably feel more like 20.

Buff took personal leave on day one of training camp and why is anyone’s guess.  It looks more and more like he’s just not into it anymore and that’s ok.

The Jets are fucked this year if he leaves.

Laine is heading to the Swiss Elite league until his contract gets sorted and rumors are he wants out.

30 goal scorer Kyle Connor is still unsigned and Winnipeg can’t sign a FA to save their lives.

You can be as mad as you like at Laine and Connor but Byfuglien is a different story.

He’s never taken a day off in his professional life and deserves your respect and understanding.  If he retires, he retires and he owes the people of Winnipeg and the Jets NOTHING.

It’s hard not to feel for Jets fans today. I don’t feel that bad but I get it.  Buff is Jets hockey and they’re running out of players quick.
