Fernando Tatis Jr Is Laughing At All The Haters

Dec 11, 2020

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you should know who Fernando Tatis Jr. is, and I don’t care if you’re a baseball fan or not. The 21-year-old phenom burst onto the scene with a breakout 2020 season that saw him finish 4th in the NL MVP voting. Tatis’ talent mixed with his energy, swag, and overall enthusiasm for playing the game of baseball has caused many to give him the title of The Face of Baseball. Tatis’ rookie season in 2019 had many San Diego Padres’ fans feeling optimistic that they had found a young superstar that would lead their team for the next 20 years. Having said that, many had doubts that Tatis was playing the right position as a rookie. For every SportsCenter Top 10 play he made at shortstop, he made an error on a routine play. In fact, as a rookie Tatis made one throwing error per 15 chances compared to the league average of one throwing error per 39 chances. I’ve never been the best at math but I can safely conclude that Tatis performed well below the league average for shortstops in 2019. Tatis’ struggles had many talking that maybe his otherworldly athleticism would be better suited in centerfield or at another infield spot. Luckily for all of us Padres fans, Tatis said FUCK THAT and made it his mission to prove he can be the best shortstop in the MLB. And yesterday, December 19th, 2020, Fernando Tatis Jr. proved all of those haters wrong…

FERNANDO TATIS JR IS THE BEST SHORTSTOP IN MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL. The kid worked his ass off to stay at the position he loves and became not only an above-average fielder but an EXCEPTIONAL fielder. In his 59 games played in 2020, Tatis made only 3 errors for a .984% fielding percentage vs 18 errors in 82 games for a .944% fielding percentage in 2019.

Fernando Tatis Jr, aka El Nino, wanted to make sure that everyone knows that he heard all of the haters and that he is LAUGHING IN ALL OF THEIR FACES

I will forever be grateful that the Chicago White Sox took an aging James Shields off of our hands to give us this phenom.

If he’s putting up numbers like this during his age 21 season, can you imagine what he’s going to do as he matures and enters his prime?! The future is bright in America’s Finest City and I can’t wait to see Tatis get a statue next to Mr. Padre, Tony Gwynn, in 20 years.

P.S. Tatis isn’t the only Padre to be named the best at his position. Shoutout to the $300 million man, Manny Machado, for being named the First Team All-MLB third baseman and Dinelson Lamet for being named to the 2nd team All-MLB as a starting pitcher
