Gerald’s Story

Kind of funny how things come full circle, as the first article I ever wrote as a freelance journalist was on Gerald. Five years ago, I didn’t even know how to spell “Psoriatic Arthritis” and have learned so much about it and Gerald’s journey since. I have known Gerald for years and he has always been open about his health, a straight-up guy who is very knowledgeable on today’s health issues and current practices. Gerald has established himself as an outspoken patient advocate, who is well known in the medical, cannabis and pharmaceutical space. He truly advocates for patient choice in treatment options based on informed decisions.

Gerald is such a patient-driven advocate that he keeps people close like fellow advocates like Rob Frid and myself all these years. His commitment to advocacy comes directly from spending time with patients like himself.

Gerald volunteers as President of the Canadian Spondylitis Association (CSA), President and CEO of Canadians for Fair Access to Medical Marijuana (CFAMM), Consumer Chair and Director for Arthritis Alliance of Canada, Director at Best Medicines Coalition (BMC) and Patient Advisory Committee at Ontario Best Practices Initiative (OBRI). Gerald has been an outstanding advocate on several health issues and most recently put his story out there in hopes of raising awareness for National Psoriatic Arthritis Awareness Day.

Cannabis Phil

It has been amazing to see the cannabis industry grow exponentially over a couple of years, to see this kind of growth is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I first started in the industry as a writer/photographer for High! Canada Magazine, interviewing some top people in the cannabis space. Eventually, I started doing content/video work, social media coverage of various cannabis events across North America, catching the pulse of what was going on and partaking in a quite a few sessions, meeting some truly amazing people on the way. In my previous enslavement (aka "career"), I was involved in the business side of things, so I do have an invested interest in the business aspect. Coming into my somewhat “village elder years”, I hope to bridge the gap between generations, in hopes of breaking the stigma and showing others it's okay to get high, while possibly showing them how. My passion for cannabis and writing covers; strain reviews, vapes, dabs, shatter, social media coverage of events, new products, patient advocacy, innovations and the business of cannabis.
