Hey Freako, Don’t Eat Your Baby’s Placenta.

May 2, 2019

Weird.  I knew a woman who kept it and made a meatloaf (or something) out of her placenta.  When she told me it was like she was challenging me to have a problem with it.  Not surprisingly, she had a LOAD of leg hair and smelled like BO and Pachouli.  She also had a baby carrier she made from old scarfs and used washable diapers, so she’s certifiable.

Now, there’s some science behind those of us that look down at you for eating one of your organs that used to be filled with baby shit.

Source: A group of Canadian gynecologists is urging people not to eat the human placenta.

A recommendation from the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada, recently published in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Canada, indicates there is no evidence of a health benefit from the practice known as placentophagy and there a potential for serious harm.

The placenta is a temporary organ that provides oxygen and nutrients to a fetus. The organ is typically incinerated after childbirth, but is sometimes eaten.

Wiki describes the Placenta this way:

‘The placenta is a temporary organ that connects the developing fetus via the umbilical cord to the uterine wall to allow nutrient uptake, thermo-regulation, waste elimination, and gas exchange via the mother’s blood supply; to fight against internal infection; and to produce hormones which support pregnancy. Placentas are a defining characteristic of placental mammals, but are also found in marsupials and some non-mammals with varying levels of development.[1]

What the fuck is wrong with you people?  Not only is there ZERO nutritional value to eating your placenta, whoever started that rumor is the King or Queen of pranks.  Do you know how many batshit crazy people had their child’s placenta turned into pills or beef jerky?   I don’t either but it’s gotta be tens of millions, worldwide.

The organization also suggests the ways of preparing the placenta, including eating it raw, cooked or in a pill form, are not regulated and raise the risk of potential contamination.

In November, Health Canada advised against consuming any placenta-based products on the market and warned about the potential of contracting an infection from the products. The agency added the risk of harm increases when consuming the placenta of another person.

In 2017, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that a baby had been sent to hospital with Group B streptococcus, which was later found in the placenta pills the mother had been consuming.

Sounds delicious.  Listen, I need to work on my approach but I hope you take the CDC and a group of high-end Gynocologist’s word for it before some hardo Naturopath Doctor at a clinic filled with pamphlets on alternative medicine.

The fact that health Canada has to warn people not to cannibalize themselves should tell you all you need to know about this fucked up, practice.

Go for a pint like these two.  The milk really comes in with alcohol consumption and no one will talk about how fucked up you are when you’re not around.
