If Pierre Poilievre Is Interested In Canada’s National Security, Why Is He Refusing HIS National Security Background Check?

Oct 27, 2023

You know what wouldn’t be comforting? If a (wannabe) Canadian Prime Ministerial candidate can’t pass a simple national security background check.

Less comforting? When that person refuses to submit to a national security background check.

Call me crazy, but I like political leaders willing to submit to national security checks.

World War III is underway in the Middle East. Ukraine is almost two years into a war with Russia. Canada is intimately involved in both wars and the Leader of Canada’s Official Opposition, Conservative hardliner Pierre Poilievere, isn’t allowed to be part of any of those briefings. Why? Because he can’t/won’t submit to a national security background check.

Neither will his wife. LOLZ.

Source: The National Security and Intelligence Comittee of Parliamentarians (NSICOP), formed in 2017, plays a vital role in reviewing intelligence and national security activities in Canada. Composed of members from the House of Commons and the Senate, NSICOP provides oversight to numerous federal agencies involved in security matters, including the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), Communications Security Establishment (CSE), Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and others.

Given the importance of NSICOP’s work, it is surprising that Poilievre, the Conservative Party’s leader, has shown a reluctance to undergo the vetting process necessary for NSICOP membership. This committee has included ten Conservative Party members in the past, making Poilievre’s refusal all the more perplexing. One prevailing theory is that if Poilievre is given access to factual information that debunks his many false narratives, it would severely hurt his misinformation campaign aimed at the Canadian people and put him in line with the government.

I could sit here a regale you with the reasons I think Pierre Poilievre refuses his NSICOP background check, but let’s lay some tracks first.

NSCICOP was created in 2017. The goal? Bringing together the law enforcement and intelligence apparatus’s that keep us safe. NSCICOP members review national and international intelligence that outline threats (potential and ongoing) to Canadians and Canadas national security and sovreignty. The leaders of EVERY major federal party and their spouses/relatives must undergo a detailed national security background check to be invloved in those briefings on threats to Canada’s security. They also have to swear an oath to “Obey and uphold the laws of Canada.”

Something Poilievere, his family and extended family have refused.

This is the Mandate of NSICOP taken directly from the government of Canada’s website.

This is the security and confidentiality clause from Canada’s National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians Act. It clearly lays out the nonpartisan requirement for all parliamentarians’ need for background checks and oaths to comply in the best interest of Canada’s national security.

So, why WON’T the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada submit to a backgorund check?

One reason: He isn’t interested in Canadian soverignty or our national security.

Let’s reason this out, shall we?

Since becoming the leader of the opposition, he and his relatively new wife, Anaida (Venzualen national whose family has been alleged to have a VERY “colorful/political history), have refused their NatSec background checks. Pierre has publicly stated he doesn’t want one because that oath it would prevent him ” from gaslighting a nation into doubting Canada’s current, PM/government. I mean, here’s the wee man telling you precisely that.

COOL. He prefers politics over national security—his words, not mine. Sick and weird, but that’s a red herring, too.

One would think, the man who want’s to lead and protect Canadians from forign threats and interference would submit to a simple background check. You need one to work at the fucking YMCA but Pierre refuses one related to the most critical job in the country. Suck on that tonight.

It’s true that Pierre has had a background check. 21 years ago while single, serving then Conservative PM, Stephen Harper.

But Pierre’s status has changed, requiring another NatSec background check; he knows he won’t “pass.”

Marriage/Becoming the leader of your party are significant status changes that require a fresh look into who might be connected to you.

Since buying his way into his role, Pierre and his (new) wife Anaida have refused their NatSec background checks. Therefore, Pierre is not allowed to review proper intelligence related to Canada’s national security or possible foreign interference.

So, he hides behind the clever excuse that taking an oath and undergoing a proper BC would impinge on his free speech. That’s a lie.

Maybe he thinks his relationships with Stephen Harper’s IDU will be scrutinized. His cooperation with organizers of the “Freedumb Convoy,” his extended familial relationships, and his political and financial activity over the past 20 years will be scrutinized. He doesn’t want that.

I said this last week. Pierre is doing two things and hopes you won’t ask him about either.

  1. He’s trying to run up the poll score before the Liberal Party starts laying out how compromised he is.
  2. Radicalizing dumb Canadians into thinking he won’t get a background check because it’s not in THEIR intrest.

If we’re all full of shit, there’s a simple solution:

Pierre can deliver a solid message to Canadians who value their security and sovereignty by submitting a NatSec background check. If Pierre loves Canada more than he loves the masters he serves and their money, he should be willing to have access to information that keeps our borders, citizens and elections safe from foreign interference. And we should be ready to ask for that information. Aggressively.

Like the murder of a Canadian man by the Indian government on Canadian soil and wars being fought by Canada where Canada’s national security is at stake, the Israeli/Gaza war and Russian/Ukraine war also come to mind, just off the top of my head.

Chinese and Russian elections interference, vote buying and systemic fincacial and political corruption are major issues in Canada. Not only is Pierre not entitled to learn more anout those threats, but he voted against a public inquiry into ANY foreign interfence last month. On top of not being allowed to review any of the material, he knows a pesky background might be his political and legal undoing.

Sometimes we make things harder than they sovereignty with needless discourse. So ask yourself one simple question: If Pierre has nothing to hide, if his wife has nothing to hide, and is intrested in our national security why won’t he submit to a national security background check?

If you really feel like doing some critical thinking, ask yourself a question: Shouldn’t the leading canditate for Prime Minister be more interested in Canada’s national security than his ability to use threats to Canada’s national security to assassinate the character of those who’ve sworn an oath to uphold Canada’s national security?

It leaves me with that “one reason” we discussed earlier: Pierre Poilievere is not interested in Canada’s national security or the security of Canadian allies. Choosing politics over our national security is a red flag. Not allowing Canadians to know what you’ve been up to for the past 20 years means you’re compromised, and that should scare the shit out of you.

Change my mind.
