It’s Not Crazy to Bet Cale Makar to Win the Hart Trophy in 22-23

Aug 20, 2022

It’s never too early to look at futures betting for the upcoming NHL season. I have someone in mind who is a longshot on the betting odds, but someone who I think has a legitimate chance to win the Hart Trophy for the 2022 – 2023 NHL Season. That man is Cale Maker, yes the reigning Norris Trophy winner, who at 23 is already one accomplished NHL’er. He was a crucial part of this years Stanley Cup champion, Colorado Avalanche, effectively shut down Connor McDavid oh and won the freaking Conn Smyth, which for those of you who don’t know is NHL’s playoff MVP award, in which he recorded 29 points in 20 games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Now to get into his odds. he currently sits at +2000 odds at Fanduel to win the award, but it’s a value bet and quite a few NHL analysis have already gone on the record to say that he can be right in the Hart conversation. If you go back and look at last seasons odds, New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin who was a runner up for this years award, was +2000 odds at the start of last season, yes folks the Exact same odds that Cale Makar has as of the current writing of this article.

Now this can be viewed as a long shot or a value bet, but that’s why I’m here to help you all make some damn money. a $20 bet on Cale right now and if he were to win would pay out a cool $420, make of that what you will. Cale has all the tangibles and skill to win the award and if he did would be the first defencemen since Chris Pronger who won the award in 2000 so it has been a while, but the year and +2000 odds, maybe its a sign or maybe I’m full of something else, but I believe in those weird signs, Hell my first rule of betting is Go With Your Gut.

Hi, my name is Griff and I'm a complete sports nut. I love to play sports, watch sports and most importantly bet on sports too. If I'm not watching or betting on sports, you can find me on the golf course, between the pipes as your average beer league goaltender. Although sports take up most of my life, I also love spending time with my two dogs, streaming usually a 90's Simpson's or attempting to read more books.
