Jeff Blair Rambles Hot Garbage About Marcus Stroman And His ‘Imaginary Enemies’

The Toronto Blue Jays recently ‘non-tendered’ Infielder Ryan Goins from the ball club, essentially releasing his rights to free agency. The Blue Jays can re-sign Goins, but it would have to be under the number an arbitrator determines and that’s probably not going to happen.

The move to release Goins was a surprise to some including his teammate Marcus Stroman, and Stroman let his frustrations immediately be known via Twitter:

The ‘Stro-show’ is frustrated because he doesn’t feel the ‘Twitterverse’ should know about the roster move before he and the rest of his teammates. Goins also happens to be tight with Stroman, so some added salt to the wound.

Sports 101, it’s a business, close friendships can become long distance, but does Stroman have a point here?

Direct communication has never been easier to accomplish. With what seems like hundreds of different avenues for connecting, reaching out to someone takes seconds not minutes to complete. Apparently, Team Shatkins doesn’t feel like any of those avenues are needed and the rest of the team can find out about roster moves when everyone else not associated with the ballclub does.

Why though, is what’s hard to understand. If you want to build and foster a close-knit organization who values transparency, how come you can’t give your roster players the right to hear about the changing dynamics of the ball club before the general public. These are the guys who bust their ass for the team and represent the values of the ballclub, every single day. The management team expects certain things out of their players and the players expect certain things out of their organization.

Sending out a courteous message about a roster move should be second nature; Team Shatkins dropped the ball.

Insert, Jeff Blair.

The veteran Sportsnet employee who took to his platform today and called out Stroman for his communication skills. See the article —>here.

To summarize, Jeff is tired of Stroman’s tweets about coming up with imaginary enemies and Stro is on his way to becoming a cartoon character.

The only Looney Tune involved here is Jeff Blair.

You’re calling out a professional athlete because he uses a platform to be candid with his following and has enough self-confidence that he can display his thoughts and emotions through a quick tweet. It’s borderline hilarious. His ‘imaginary enemies’ come from the hundreds if not thousands of people who have either passed on Stroman or told him he’s not good enough. Why are you so worried about how he motivates himself?

The Blue Jays are the ones you should be writing about and any team for that matter who don’t have the decency to send out a quick message to the group before something goes down. It takes one minute to write a detailed enough message to get the point across about a transaction or change of any sorts to a team. Every team has employees within their communications department who have access to the player’s contact information, it takes two seconds to send out a non-reply group text and show the people who are still around that they have the decency to keep people in the loop. Why isn’t what’s owed in sports a two-way street? This doesn’t have to trickle down to negotiations of something or any potential moves going down, obviously, the line gets drawn in the sand somewhere, unless you’re a LeBron type and just call your own shots. This is a fact service only, and do the player’s a service and let them know.

Blair’s take is hot garbage. No shit Jeff, the team doesn’t owe him any advance warning of the moves going down, but hey, when they do go down… like right now, they should be the first to know. Way to call the guy out for his “Branding Exercises”, apparently Stro shouldn’t run his own business and build an empire to inspire the youth in Toronto, New York and all over the world and show that anything can be accomplished if you put your mind to it and surround yourself with good people.

Jeff Blair isn’t good people.

Expect Stroman and Blair to battle it out in the coming days via indirect tweets/replies and mentions.

One cartoon character who spews hot garbage that rivals the smell of a bum’s pocket and one gold glove winning pitcher who actually gives a shit.
