Jets Fall To Red Wings in Must Win Game

Apr 7, 2022

There is no worse place to be than “in the hunt”. That means you have a chance to make the playoffs, but you’re on the outside looking in. That’s exactly where the Winnipeg Jets find themselves right now, and every loss feels like the worst loss ever. However, when you’re trying to fight for a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, you can’t lose to the Detroit Red Wings.

Detroit sucks, but they’ve been a pain in the ass the last couple days. They beat the Boston Bruins Tuesday night, and then downed Winnipeg last night. The difference is, the Bruins are currently holding a playoff spot, the Jets are on the outside looking in.

Winnipeg fans may think they took the loss hard, but according Josh Morrissey, the players are fucking devastated.

“To be honest, I don’t think one word has been said since the game ended in the locker room. Not one word,” Morrissey said postgame. “Obviously, we can’t afford to lose games right now, and that’s a game we shouldn’t lose. With their schedule and our desperation, they’re playing on a back-to-back. It’s frustrating.”

Head coach Dave Lowry mimicked Morrissey’s words, however there is a groundswell of Jets fans that want Lowry’s ass fired.

Lowry became the interim head coach in December after Paul Maurice stepped down from the role.

Regardless of whose fault it is, Jets fans are pissed, and you can’t really blame them. I’m not the biggest fan of the ice game, but I get sports. There is an expectation that as a competitor you’re going to win the games that need to be won. Losing to a shitty team in a back-to-back game is inexcusable.

Though I don’t give a shit, I do empathize with Jets fans. These kind of games fucking suck, and you have every right to be pissed off.
