Joe Thornton will play for HC Davos until the start of the NHL season.

He’s 41 and can play wherever he wants too. Jumbo has earned that right.
Becuase we’re Toronto centric, we need to look at the Joe Thornton news through the ‘how does this affect the Maple Leafs’ lens like the selfish pricks we are.
It doesn’t. Joe signed with HC Davos becuase 1) he lives there in the offseason and became a Swiss citizen years ago because after playing there during the lockout and 2) He fucking loves Switzerland because it consistently has the highest quality of living of any country in the world and he gets to shovel snow 12 months of the year.
Contractually, he’s still allowed to sign with any NHL team at any time.
If I’m Joe, I’m staying put. Play the game you love in a beautiful, safe, and peaceful country, or dig in for your 24th NHL season prolonging the misery.
That’s an easy decision if I’m Joe Thornton.
