Josh Donaldson Signs With Alex Anthopolous And The Braves Because Mark Shapiro…Sort Of.

Nov 26, 2018

I saw Mark Shapiro at Lunch the other day.  He was a few tables over, and it was a private club that doesn’t like to disclose it’s members and puts a premium on privacy.  I get into it much, but we had a brief interaction.

“Excuse me, sir,” he said to me as he was trying to get past me to make his way back to his table.

“For sure,” I said.

I moved, and he went by, sat down and continued talking to whoever he was there with.

What I wanted to say was “Actually, you’re not excused simply because of the shitty return you got from a player two years removed from an MVP season,” but “For sure,” came out.

Listen.  I loved Donaldson too, but Vlad is the best prospect the Jays have ever had and the best prospect in baseball maybe ever.

He plays 3rd base.

He hits like Heather Locklear under arrest.

He’s not a dick to his teammates or managers (yet), and he’s not 33.

Good for the Braves.  JD, if healthy, is one of the game’s true superstars gets 23 million to play for AA for a year.

Good For AA too.  He’s a quality GM and person who’s done a terrific job in the ATL.

Jays?  Whatever.  Enjoy the Vlad/Bichette/Biggio show, and maybe they go full Astros this year.
