You know, for a scribe with 30 years in the newspaper game, Steve is astonishingly stupid and childish.

It didn’t happen to James Mirtle because he didn’t publish Auston Matthews’ positive COVID test you meathead.
Did you seriously throw a co-worker under the bus, insinuating James Mirtle wouldn’t be treated like you were treated last night because he’s a fraud?? That doesn’t make an iota of fucking sense, Steve but it is another unprofessional bush league move so at least you and your chapped lips are on-brand.
Over the past 4 years, I’ve realized accountability breeds respect in life and at work. Steve, by his own admission here, is void of that character trait and would rather drag a colleague through the shit so he’s not alone in his embarrassment. It’s what Cowards do. It’s what Trump does and its what the mentally unwell do to normalize their own stupidity. It’s a tool employed by morally bankrupt, self-conscious liars when the world turns on them meant to distract everyone from their own shortcomings and it’s completely see-through.
Steve, next time just tell everyone you’re not sure what’s going on in 2020, you’re not emotionally equipped to navigate your ‘profession’ anymore and maybe your best days are in the rearview mirror.
It’ll be the most accurate piece you’ve written in 20 years and people might actually like you again.
