In no way am I equating drinking to the tragedy in Muskoka but if I’m Kevin O’Leary, I’m never posting another Instagram shot or Tweet with me doing chores and drinking again.  Plus you just look like an out of touch Super Doucher.

I bet Mr. Wonderful, Kevin O’Leary wishes he hadn’t posted a million Insta shots with wine while doing anything and everything over the past few years.

Here’s me drinking a magnum while playing with camera equipment.

And here’s Mrs. Fabulous with breakfast lunch and dessert.

Last week, O’Leary’s speed boat collided with a ski boat on Lake Joseph killing Gary Poltash and Suzana Brito.  Poltash was killed instantly and Brito died in hospital two days later.

Since then Police have said nothing and numerous reports have surfaced contradicting O’Leary’s original press release indicating his wife Linda O’Leary was driving and was sober as a judge.

Originally O’Leary indicated the other boat fled the scene and his wife passed a sobriety test and they did nothing wrong according to Family members speaking on condition of anonymity, have a different opinion of what happened as do the three other passengers who survived the crash that killed Poltash and Brito.

According to police, both parties called 911 after the accident.

O’Leary called from Rocky Crest Golf resort while the victim’s families called from the shore close to their cottage.

Since releasing the statement, Linda took her Instagram account private while O’Leary disabled comments for his account.

Kevin’s account is interesting and probably isn’t going to help in the court of public opinion which matters the most in cottage country.

The Muskoka lakes are full of uber-rich assholes and asshole-ettes who keep score with boats, cottages, and dinners at the Ovinbyrd dinner club.  Sea Planes and Helicopters take the place of packed minivans as the travel method of choice for these folks for who regular rules and laws don’t apply.

Night cruises or ‘Booze cruises’ are a favorite of which I’ve captained and been on several myself.  My cottage is a 6-minute boat ride from Rocky Crest and two Islands over from Emerald Island where the accident occurred.  It can be pitch black after dark, almost impossible to navigate without knowledge of the landscape and markers.  Throw in few belts of wine and a couple of post BBQ cognacs in the Muskoka room and any boat ride after dark is deadly.

I’m not passing judgment on O’Leary nor do I know who’s responsible but you can bet your ASS everyone in Muskoka is going through O’Learys Instagram account passing more than judgment.  Especially people who hate the O’Leary’s who aren’t tough to hate right now.

Before you pass judgment, remember two people died and despite the misinformation, I guarantee the O’Leary’s are scared to death and they should be.  I would be.

I also wouldn’t have put out a press release blaming the dead people or fled the scene, but that’s just me.

Driving a boat at night after drinks with friends wouldn’t be one of these ‘Good Ideas’.  Maybe time for a Social Media Scrub before we get all the details, Kev.  Just saying.
