Kyle Dubas Just Called The Toronto Sun ‘Disgusting’ And They ‘Crossed The Line’ With Brutal Tavares Cover
I NEVER pass up a chance to shit on Steve Simmons or neo-con/fascist rag The Toronto Sun.
When other people do it first, it makes my job less fun, but easier.
Simmons wrote the corresponding article that went with this cover and wasn’t nearly as offensive as the headline/pic. It was poorly written and full of guessing (that’s what Steve does, he guesses) but Simmons wasn’t the issue this time.
During media availability, Dubas was asked about the Sun’s classy cover of yesterday’s ‘paper’ aaaannndd he’s not pleased with the Editor of The Sun, Adrienne Batra. He’s ‘disgusted’ by them all, actually.
Not sure who asked Leafs GM Kyle Dubas the question but he wasn’t a fan of the Toronto Sun plastering a picture of The Leaf’s captain, bloodied, out of it, and clearly struggling with the words ‘CAPTAIN CRUNCHED’ in big bold letters.
The headline was less of an issue than the picture. Adrienne Batra – Sun Editor – knows that gory content and bad taste get shared twice as much online through social media. We can be outraged but we all click on shock value pics and video’s because our brains are predisposed to look at ‘disasters’. HOWEVER, what it says about the Toronto Sun is that their content sucks, and Adrienne Batra knows it so they chase cheap clicks with shock and gore to stay in business.
Steve Simmons is trending because he has a history of being a lying, inflammatory asshole, he writes for the Sun, but in actuality, Steve doesn’t pick headlines or cover pics. It would be fun if he did, but we probably shouldn’t shit on Warthead for this.
The Toronto Sun is hanging on by a very thin thread. They’re a conservative joke pretending to look like a newspaper so I guess that’s why they don’t act like one.
Ms. Batra is The Sun’s editor (former Ford Comms director) and a STAUNCH member of the PC Party in Ontario.
If you have an issue, take it up with her.
The Leafs should revoke the Sun’s press access and give it to us. We’d happily not be assholes for a chance to have Duane from Buffalo, or Pats from The Hockey Dummies ask players and coaches real questions. It’s not working out with Steve and the Sun so let’s talk about it, Kyle. We’re here for you.
