Dr. Shabazz was unequivocal. “For years, our family has fought for the truth to come to light concerning his murder,” adding that these agencies “conspired to and executed their plan to assassinate Malcolm X.”
Malcolm X was shot on February 21st, 1965. He was about to deliver a speech at the Audubon Ballroom when three armed men shot him. One man, Talmadge Hayere, who was a member of the Nation of Islam, a group who had ostracized X at the behest of then-leader Elijah Mohammed, confessed to the assassination. Two other men who were convicted and spent more than 40 years in prison were released in 2021.
