The Toronto Marlies took their travelling road show to a slightly warmer climate this weekend in Charlotte to take on the Checkers.

The Marlies had to vacate the Ricoh Coliseum again for an extended stretch as the boat show invades their home rink for a week.

Recent additions from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Travis Dermott and Frederik Gauthier both had decent games with Dermott adding an assist on the the Kasperi Kapanen opening goal.

Garret Sparks got the start in goal for the visiting team, and stopped 26 of 27 for the win.  Sparks now has a .938 Save Percentage and a 1.79 Goals Against Average.

Scoring for the Marlies was Kapanen, Miro Aaltonen, Ben Smith and Andreas Johnsson.

Ben Smith continues to lead the Marlies with 16 goals and 31 points on the season.

Marlies battle the Checkers for a Saturday evening rematch in Charlotte at 6pm.
