Toronto Raptors Super-fan Nav Bhatia was honoured by the NBA’s Hall of Fame just prior to the kick off of All-Star weekend. The HOF has a new “Super-fan” category, and who better to receive the honour than our own boy Nav, who recently donated $150,000.00 to renovate the basketball courts at Paul Coffey Park in Mississauga.
Nav is transitioning from a Super-fan to a Superstar. His net worth is $50 million. He’s got an NBA championship ring, and now HOF honours.
As does anyone with his level of success, he’s got haters too.
Nav is the first “Raptor” to receive HOF honours and that pisses a lot of people off because he’s just a fan/ambassador and not a player or coach.
In reality, the only players in the HOF that spent time in Toronto are Tracy McGrady and Hakeem Olajuwon, and neither of them are in because of their career with the Raptors. Lenny Wilkins is the only coach associated with the Raptors who’s in the HOF but again, not because of his time with the Raptors.
So it’s Nav.
To be honest, get over it.
At least he’s a nice guy. He shares his wealth to make other people’s lives a little bit more enjoyable.
Besides, don’t worry about the HOF now that’s for the future. Live in the moment. This is the golden age of Raptors basketball.
One day we’ll witness Kyle Lowry get inducted into the HOF as a Raptor. We’ll probably get Nick Nurse too.
Serge Ibaka’s sledgehammer probably gets honoured every Thursday night somewhere on King West, and will probably be inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records.
And who knows what the future holds for the rest of this really young, good team?
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the sound of Jack Armstrong’s child-like excitement over the success of this team!
I f’n LOVE Jack! He’s not the sportscaster we need, but he’s the one that we deserve.
