Brandon Beane confirmed his final roster move to get down the the 80 player limit for today’s deadline, as per NFL rules. Beane gave some crumbs of information as to his plan moving into next week.
Previously released WR/KR Tavon Austin and P Matt Haack had been announced yesterday, along with the trade of former Oklahoma tackle and current turnstile Cody Ford to Arizona, Buffalo still had one more move to get down to the limit. Beane confirmed today that Ike Boettger, who was injured at the end of last season, was moved to the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list confirming he will miss at least the first four games of the regular season.
Beane also confirmed that CB Tre White will not be moved to PUP as of yet, as the team has until August 30th, otherwise he will remain on the 53 man roster in hopes of being ready for week 1 of the regular season.
The team is also looking to add some more salary cap space after these moves and mentioned that a restructure of a current contract is likely. S Jordan Poyer has been vocal this offseason about wanting more money. While that is just speculation that Poyer could be the restructured, the truth is that Beane has restructured pay cuts this offseason for other players.
