Every Sports Show will rave about the hiring and try as hard as they can to ignore the disaster which is Daryl Katz recent face augmentation.  So let’s go through this together, Francis.

There are competing opinions as to what happened to Daryl Katz face.  He was interviewed by John Shanon a while ago and said he had a life-threatening sinus condition.

In fact, he carried an IV bag 24/7 during the playoff run, 2 seasons ago. The infection has a 50-50 survival rate. He's had 3 surgeries over the past 10 months with 1 more surgery to go. It is the primary reason why he hasn’t been around Edmonton and the team.

Normally most journalists would print a retraction saying they should have had more information but I just want to point a few things out.

1. Daryl Katz is the same guy who was accused on more than one occasion was accused of using his influence and money to bang hot up and coming actresses.  

One of those was Greice Santo who wrote this song about it which became a hit in Brazil.  It doesn’t mean I think Katz deserves to have a life-threatening Sinus infection.  But I don’t instantly believe it’s not from something else knowing what we know about Daryl Katz.

Besides, are we supposed to feel the ‘same sorry’ for good people as we are for guys like Daryl Katz?  I don’t think so and that’s my own measuring stick and I’m totally good with it.

The other part that sounds fishy is the sinus infection story.  At the risk of sounding completely insensitive, this is coming from a dude who isn’t overly trustworthy and fits smack dab into the me-too movement so pardon fucking me for questioning the legitimacy of the sinus infection, but I do.  I have a friend who had a nose job that became infected with MRSA (antibiotic-resistant germs) and he had the exact same thing happen to him.

I called an unnamed Dr. to ask what kind of sinus infection happens where your nose gets smaller with surgery and he said, ‘None that I know of.”

This isn’t a medical Journal and If Katz is suffering from a life-threatening illness, that sucks.  I’m man enough to change the title of a story so it doesn’t get tossed around like CHUM to the dummies who don’t share my disbelief of the explanation people are trying to beat me with online.

At first glance, it looks like he just went too far.  If Katz was a woman and he went from an A cup to a D cup and you hadn’t seen them since you’d all be cracking jokes around the water cooler here and if that person was of questionable moral character, you’d ask the same questions about her. So, lighten up Francis.

This is the surgical version of dying your hair jet black on Sunday and showing up on Monday expecting no one notices but you have a huge announcement that might change the future of your franchise and you just forgot about your new look.

Too bad the biggest takeaway from the Ken Holland Hiring today will be Daryl Katz’s face.

If it’s botched plastic surgery, I hope Daryl stops before his pubes turn into a goatee.  If this is indeed a life threatening sinus infection disaster let’s hope for a speedy recovery because intentional or not, that sucks. And yes, I really mean that too.
