NHLTR: Maple Leafs and Golden Knights talking Tyson Barrie trade

The Toronto Maple Leafs lost to their own employee on Saturday night but as Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston pointed out, the underlying story from the game was the health of Tyson Barrie.

Turns out Barrie returned from a nasty collision and finished the game. Johnston went on to mention on HNIC, the Maple Leafs and Golden Knights are talking a Tyson Barrie deal.

Vegas made some more room under their cap by dealing Cody Eakin to the Jets, and now have tons of room to add the remaining money from Barrie’s contract for the rest of the season.

The Knights are believed to be offering a 2nd round pick in 2020, and prospect RHD Kaeden Korczak, their 2nd round pick from the 2019 draft. Korczak has 40 points in 53 games for the WHL’s Kelowna Rockets.

The Leafs are rumored to be interested in flipping the assets for a RHD with term on his contract, and for weeks, names like Matt Dumba and Josh Manson have been linked to the team. It appears after the team lost to their AHL team’s zamboni driver, everything is on the table before Monday’s deadline.

IMO: Kyle Dubas pulls the trigger and goes off the board and acquires a huge name nobody has been talking about.
