Sorry Eagles fans, but Nick Foles is not the answer.
The Philadelphia Eagles season came to a screeching halt yesterday afternoon. Second year quarterback Carson Wentz tore his ACL against the Los Angeles Rams. The Eagles confirmed that Wentz’ ACL had in fact been torn after an MRI scan earlier today.
The franchises hopes and dreams of winning a Super Bowl is now in the hands of former Pro Bowl quarterback, Nick Foles. Fans and media outlets have this insane notion that Nick Foles is fully capable of leading this team to the Super Bowl. Simply because he is a “former Pro Bowl quarterback”.
In 2013, Nick Foles had a story book season. He led the team to an 8-2 record, threw for almost 3,000 yards with 27 touchdowns and just two interceptions. Foles was named to the Pro Bowl and thought to be the future for the Philadelphia Eagles. Apparently that’s all people remember though.
They forget that once Philadelphia was in the playoffs, the team was one-and-done. The Eagles were bounced out of the playoffs by Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints. And Nick Foles was never able to play up to his Pro Bowl season again. And was eventually let go by the Philadelphia Eagles.
Outside of that 2013 season that he threw an impressive 27 touchdowns to just two interceptions, Foles’ touchdown-to-interception numbers are actually 29-25. I’ll even take it a step further. Outside of that “Pro Bowl” season in which he led the Eagles to an 8-2 record, his overall win-loss record is an underwhelming 12-14.
Nick Foles is a one-hit wonder. He’s not your answer to a Wentz-less season.
