SN: Eight-year-old Jacob Bertrand of Mascouche, Que., a suburb north-east of Montreal, can relate all too well.

Bertrand, a Toronto Maple Leafs fan deep in Montreal Canadiens territory, had his eighth birthday spoiled on the weekend by some botched imagery on his birthday cake.

His stepmother, Tania Levesque, ordered the cake at a local bakery asking for the crest of Bertrand’s favorite team on it, only to receive one with the logo of Maple Leaf Foods, a packaged meats company.“The bakery obviously went on Google to find the logo, but didn’t write ‘Toronto,’” Levesque said in a Facebook post.

“This birthday is sponsored by Maple Leaf Foods.”

Stepmom?   Heart of Habs country?

Tania can blame it on the bakery’s shitty google search but that’s all stepmom right there.  She hates the kid.

If I’m Jacob, I’m seriously considering getting one of those child divorces from your parents.  It’s called ’emancipation’ and it’s 100% legal in Quebec (not Ontario) and Jacob needs a parent who’ll love him enough to get his fucking birthday cake right.  Is it really that hard to grab some random, generic cake after seeing the Maple Leaf Meats cake?

One thing I know about blended families is you never love your partner’s kids as much as you love your own but ruining a child’s birthday with a bologna cake seems evil.

His real mom got it right a year ago.  It doesn’t seem hard.

C’mon, Tania.  We know you don’t like this kid as much as your own, but you don’t need to do him like this.  Being a Leaf fan in the derelict province of Quebec is tough enough.
