Emergency orders and stay at home orders only work if you enforce them.

Today, Ontario handed down the ‘legal ramifications’ of breaking the stay at home order and there are none.  Like, zero.   The official Government explanation of how they plan on policing people reads more like a ‘pretty please’ letter:

Will you get arrested if you leave your home for unnecessary travel?  NO, because how can a by-law or police officer discern where you’re going and if it’s essential?  It may not be essential to them, but it is to you.

Is there a limit on how long you can be out of the home?  Not when the Government is telling us to leave the home to get exercise.

How do I know if my job or errands are essential?

If stores are open for curbside pick up how do we pick up if we can’t leave our homes?

It’s a joke.

There isn’t enough peyote on the planet that would help make sense of what Ford and the Ontario Government are trying to do here other than reverse engineering a hail mary.

We shouldn’t need guidelines to do the right thing but we do. I just wish we had leadership that gave a shit about us instead of pretending they know what they’re doing.

Orders without orders aren’t orders. They’re ‘suggestions’, and in case you haven’t noticed, we’re not good with those.
