Patriots Voted as Having the Worst Fanbase in the AFC East

Mar 16, 2023

In the least surprising result, fans of the New England Patriots were voted the worst in the AFC East.

Sports are fun. Sports fans can be really fun. Some sports fans are terrible. Over the next few weeks I will be surveying Twitter (the meeting spot for the most toxic of sports fans), and we’ll be conducting polls to determine which NFL fanbase will take the crown as the worst fanbase in football

Between Wednesday and Thursday I asked Twitter users to vote on the worst fanbase in the AFC East, with 50% of the vote going to Patriots fans. Bills Mafia came in second with 33% of the votes.

My Vote: Bills

Three or four months ago I would have chosen the New England Patriots. I’m a Patriots fan and I know how terrible our fanbase can be. However, I have lost a lot of respect for the Bills Mafia after they were knocked out of the postseason. For a fanbase who claims to have humble beginnings and thick skin, Bills Mafia showed how fragile they really were. Bills fans carried themselves with the arrogance of Pats Nation after winning nothing (AFC East Champions is not a championship). If you’re going to be overconfident, talk smack, and celebrate “Big Dub” every Monday. Don’t start crying that the Bengals social media team has no class because they’re celebrating a playoff win.

For our next poll, we’re looking at the NFC East.
