Pierre Poilievre is campaigning on terrorism

After the news of the horrific attacks broke last week in Israel, how did Pierre Poilievre react? By using it to his political advantage.

In their mad haste to twist everything around to “make it the Prime Minister’s” issue, the “boys in short pants” over at Pierre Poilievre’s office put out the following tweet:

The members of QUINT put out the statement.

Obviously, working from the talking points handed to him, The Sun’s Brian Lilley got in on the action. However, instead of admitting they were wrong, Poilievre and The Sun decided just to plow ahead and still make this about the PM not being respected on the world stage.

Because who cares about the truth when there are political points to be made?

Mulroney chimed in to help Poilievre.

“You’ve got to have the strength and the connections and the influence to make the argument when it is vital,” Mulroney said.

The former prime minister warned that Canada’s international influence is waning at a time when its diplomatic relationships with China and India are at a low ebb.

The rest of the world “appear[s] to be ignoring Canada, obviously, and they don’t have much time for our opinions,” he said. “And that leaves us without influence.”

We saw how well Trudeau is respected and what an embarrassment Poilievre is on the world stage when Biden visited.

Here are some more reactions to Poilievre’s tweet:

Mr. Adler said it best:

So, for the record. When Pierre Poilievre heard about the horrible terrorist attack, his first instinct, his top priority, was to use it for his own political advantage. If it hadn’t been QUINT, he and his campaign would have just found something else—anything to make this about attacking the Prime Minister.

He put himself and his never-ending campaign above all else.
